How much time do you think it takes for the dust to settle after a kitchen has been removed (to be redone) and old carpets have been pulled up (with dry dusty padding under them)? The floor needs to be finished with polyurethane so that's why I ask because I would not want the dust to settle into the coat of polyurethane.

A day, then the dust will be kicked up again when you sand the floor.

Really? A day? I would have imagined dust from drywall, paint, etc would stay airborne much longer. I am glad to hear you say it does not.

I am currently in the midst of a major renovation.

I took care of my drywall dust in a day.
Paint does not leave dust.

The hardwood floor was sanded yesterday and is being stained and sealed today.
