I agree... paint!

Better to repaint than wrack your brain and budget trying to make it work.

Unfortunately I can't. I let the hubby choose the color when we were remodeling. I am stuck with the color for another year before it can be re-painted. Trying to work with the current color as it is.

That was your first mistake!! Don't compound it. Repaint it. Short of an all white décor, you will buy something to make this look cohesive and when you do repaint you will have to buy again. New Paint is a whole lot cheaper than a bedspread, pillows, rugs, etc.

ok - I understand that reasoning why you can't paint it. So - I say a black/white decoration scheme.

Then what was your vision for the room when he chose - and you approved - that color?

Paint it a warm and neutral color and add accessories for color (ie: curtains, bed linens, pillows, throw rugs)

Actually you can paint it a different color you just choose not to paint it a different color.

We have been looking at homes and the only rooms that have these sort of colors are those that belonged to teenagers who picked that color to annoy their parents.

If repainting is not an option...

A friend of mine has a guest bedroom painted a similar color (although maybe not quite so bright). She can't repaint due to her landlord.

It's decorated in a sort of Audobon/botanical style which helps temper the green. She has a collection of framed botanical and bird prints, sort of like these and has bedding similar to this.

You might be able to do something similar. A large block of framed prints (like above, even if you chose a different theme) would certainly help break up the giant expanse of green.
