What do you all do? Where do you put them?

This is one of the least researched and sorted out problems ever

I dont want to put them in plastic holders on a hanger over the door
Or in boxes with a pretty pcture of them outside
Or in the hallway (too many)
Most containers are impracticle and not that sightly
No good throwing them all into a lovely basket

Not everyone has a big hallway they can line them up out of sight somewhere....shoes need to be easily accessible but out of sight

A cupboard is a good idea in the hall or living room if space allows with lots of shelves???

Same with coats and jackets.

Why do you want shoes in a living room or hall? I keep mine in my bedroom closet.

shoe organization, storage & organization, home : Target

What exactly do you think needs to be researched?

Most of my shoes are in the bedroom closet.
Everyday shoes are in the foyer closet.

We keep the shoes we wear frequently (work) in the coat closet by the door. We also have a bench with some storage. Weekend and special occasion shoes are kept in our bedroom closets.

I toured a house while hose hunting where the pantry was full of shoes!

I bought two of these at WalMart, stacked them, and put them along a wall in my bedroom.

Mainstays Expanding Shoe Rack - Walmart.com

All those shoes lined up are kind of like bedroom decor for me, I like looking at them. But since I retired I wear very few of them so I'm going to do something about that when the spirit moves me (eventually.) I also have shoes by the front door and shoes by the back door and shoes in my clothes closet. If anyone lived with me I'm sure they'd find it very irritating but that's not an issue.

I think I understand what you're getting at with this post. You need a landing/launch pad. Our solution was to tuck a decorative pie safe in a niche near the door into the garage. We took all but the bottom shelf out of the pie safe and installed hooks, so it functioned like a locker. When the kids were younger, they hung their backpacks and coats inside the pie safe and stashed their shoes below the bottom shelf. There was also a basket inside the pie safe for gloves, hats, etc. My husband and I used two drawers at the top of the pie safe for personal items we needed to have accessible while coming and going. Now that the kids are older, they just take all their stuff to their rooms when they come home, but that pie safe saved my sanity when they were in elementary school.

I keep shoes on the floor of the closet, where they belong.

There's a very easy way to "shoe management".
