That's what I would do. They are easy to install.

Install is not a problem. I get it why he didn't do towel racks by the shower - you have to drill through tile and chance it won't crack. I get that.
Forget it, I'll mount something this weekend.
I think some of it is basic fear to mess up a nice house.
Thanks, kab.

There is an "insider's trick" to getting perfect holes drilled into tile. The surface glaze is generally so "slick" that most folks end-up putting too much pressure to try to keep the drill from "skittering". Use a first step to remove the glaze with an abrasive either in your drill or a high speed rotary tool (Dremel) -- How to Easily Drill a Hole in Ceramic Tile - Fine Homebuilding

The standard towel bars typically have mount plates that are then covered by the bar's design and little "set screws". It is not brain surgery but is certainly something that is time consuming enough that many builders do not like to spend hundreds of dollars on things that have so many "options" for picky home buyers. Builders' mindset is often "best option when faced with '31 flavors' is "let the home owner DIY"....

That is what I was going to suggest. I have these in our new bathroom. I got them as a temporary measure because we still need to get the trim up and I didn't want to put anything "permanent" yet. You could even attach them to the side of the cabinet that divides the vanity if you wanted--or inside one of the doors if you don't want them hanging on the wall.

Maybe the previous owner just didn't like towel bars, who knows. As for not having any holes in the walls anywhere, they probably took down photos, filled any nail holes and painted the walls to prep for selling. That isn't really a big deal to do, especially for a builder.

Thank you all.
I also took very close look at all the wall tile - and it's much smoother than I actually thought. Little doubt suction cups will hold just fine.

If this is your fear then you need to move out unless you are not going to do anything in that nice house but stand there and look at it.
I don't *get it* why he didn't put towel racks up or at least leave a spot for them however, that bathroom would be completely useless to me.

Just lay a hand towel on the counter. Handy and you won't knock it off.

I'm the same way about holes...my old walls are no where near perfect, but I did spend a lot of time filling every nick, sanding and painting. I don't have any holes and don't want any. For the tiny master bath I just added IKEA suction cup hooks on the tile that's outside of the shower area. I only have a few things on the walls and I use 3M thingys instead of nails. Not really sure why I dislike nail holes so much considering they are always covered by what you're putting up (unless you move it).
