There is so little wall space on either side of the doors the drapes couldn't be opened enough to fully exposethe door. Plus I would be concerned about having the drapes so close to the fireplace.
I'd get some good quality blinds in the proper length with clips to hold them down on the bottom.
Just to clarify, the thought was to paint the door black, not the trim. However, we'll probably just get new blinds or roman shades once our sofas come in. The current blinds are totally falling apart.
(Note: beach sign and red leather sofa are going away ... waiting on two new sofas to arrive - then new large area rug, artwork, decorative accessories, etc)
