You could always run a rod along the top and put curtains over them. It would also allow for pushing the curtains aside for a full length mirror if needed.

They are large, but frankly they are CHEAP and EASY to replace. I already linked to the both plain ones (under $100 each) and fairly nice looking ones in cherry veneer. There are LOTS of options! I cannot understand why some people would rather blow their money on "craft project" type fixes when it really is no more time or money to get a nicer more permanent solution...

If the OP does not like the mirrored doors it is very easy to just have replaced with frosted / translucent glass, wood veneer, Asian-style Shoji screen, and hundred of other variation. While prices from the firms that emphasize their "custom" work can be very inflated, this really is an EASY Do-It-Yourself thing. You can even RENT a van from many big-box stores to make it easy to get the doors from the store to your home...

Yes. This is the best way to get rid of mirrored doors. It shouldn't be all that expensive.

If you don't want to replace the doors, this is the way I'd go. I strongly dislike curtains in lieu of closet doors, or in this case, as a second covering over a closet.

I had similar doors that went from floor to ceiling (non standard size, so hard to replace). and i used frost spray paint like the picture in the link below, to mimic shoji screens, turned out really well, but it was a pain to do. I also painted the edges rails and track silver to cover up the brass color.
