We have a full wall of adjacent windows which need shades or blinds. I think the cellular shades would fit well in the individual windows' recessed area.
I have them in my office and bathroom. I like that they are basically low profile and when up, they are not noticeable. In my other rooms, I used sheets to still have an open feel. IMO they are more attractive than shades. They are not out of style, but not a fashion statement.
I have both in my house, depending on the use of the room. The black out cellular shades are used in rooms where I want to block out light and intense heat/drafts (bedrooms) and in two other rooms where I just want to filter light or have privacy (front den exposed to street). I raise both of them during the day for natural day light/sun.
In the rooms where I open windows for circulation I've used blinds. Most of the windows in my neighborhood/development use blinds or the bottom up/top down "cordless" cellular shades.
I work for a window treatment specialist who sells and installs both, so depending on the use of the room either is still "stylish".

Are cellular shades still in style?
What does being in *style* have anything to do with needing, wanting or liking the shades? If you want them get them, if not then don't. You should do for your home what you like, is comfortable, practical and affordable for you since you live there.
I like them, I am happiest with the Bali cordless (which are also good if one has pets). I actually have verticals in the window frame, then two accordion shades that fit side by side in front of them (this just worked for me, though they have wider widths available). This allows for options, having sheers / curtains over them, besides.

I agree with this. I consider them innocuous, not a style statement. They do their job while blending in. That's all I ask for a window covering.
When we had the guy who sells Hunter Douglas window treatments out, he did show us cellular shades, and I remember that they come in several different forms. I recommend having a look at Home Depot or Lowes to see what they have displayed. And here is a link for you: hunter douglas cellular shades Choose images and you will see lots of styles and colors.
I don't think they are trending or trendy, but the seem to have found a place in many homes. I do agree that if the cellulars would work, then I don't know why you wouldn't want to buy them.
I also think that you can find them at many price points.
