Hi,

I am going to repaint the upstairs small room of my cape house. I would like to have 2 colors in the room. One of the color will be Behr's Poetic Light BWC-21 and the second color will be a darker tone in grey/blue family.

Now, since the room has so many slanted ceiling, I am not sure which color should go with which wall to make it nice.

I am attaching few pictures of the room and hoping someone can help me out with this.

Thanks in advance!

If that were MY room, I would paint it all one color.
Too much going on with all those angles.

Additional color would be in the bedding and/or accessories.

You could use the darker color in the bed nook (and the back wall of the built in bookcases)

I think I would use the lightest colors on the ceiling areas. It might be better to choose two tones of one color. You could go with a light tone of your chosen Behr color. I also think that you could use the darker tone around your bed.

I don't think I'd use really dark colors in the room because it probably doesn't get much light. And, I'd make sure your Behr color really works in that situation. It might look a great deal darker than you think it will. Dormer rooms often don't have a lot of light.

You could also consider using transfers for interest here and there instead of two colours, some of the blossom tree (ebay) ones are lovely. Also framed prints or paintings or photos on the sloping areas.

I had the same situation in my former home. We painted all the straight walls in a color and the angled walls in a tinted ceiling paint that was tonal to the color of the walls but definitely lighter. Just what silibran suggested.

Simplest way is to chose paint color for straight walls and buy extra paint to add to your ceiling paint.

Buy good quality white ceiling paint of same type & brand (ex: latex, Sherwin Williams)....then add one pint of the colored (straight wall) paint for every one gallon of ceiling paint. So one extra gallon of straight wall paint would be enough to tint 8 gallons of white ceiling paint.

For ceiling paint I would mix 2 gallons white with 2 pints colored in a seoarate 4 gallon bucket to get enough same mix paint to not have any after drying touch ups be "off".
