We only lived in the house less than one year but the big bath and walk in closet had thick, celery green carpeting that looked and felt fabulous. But the web says that soon it would be growing mold and have to be ripped out. The pad would grow mold and all sorts of alien life.
Is there anyone who had or has a carpeted bath and loves it too? I won't expect hardly any "yeas" but wanted to ask.
I've experienced the worst of the worst first hand, twice. Yuck, I feel a little like throwing up just thinking about it (and DID lose my lunch ripping it out of one of those bathrooms).
No thanks, someone else can deal with that biohazard, I'm having none of it ever again.
Google "carpetted bathrooms" then click on the images tab. There are some seriously grotesque pictures there LOL.
BUT, if by some miracle (not sure which one) your bathroom really does look great and you want to keep the bacteria infestestation pit, then make sure you buy a steam cleaner (and use it daily everywhere especially around the "oops the other half dribbled a bit round there")
Tiles can feel cold for some, a nice alternative is linoleum/vinyl, its much warmer, comes in all sorts of designs and colours these days, and you can still have your mats and rugs and put them in the washing machine
I knew quite a few people who had mobile homes that had carpet in their bathrooms. It didn't seem to bother them one bit. Personally, I don't think carpet and water mix very well, so I wouldn't like it in my bathroom. I already can't stand when my small bath rug gets a little wet and I step in it, blah. Imagine if a toilet overflowed. But, to each is own.
We had carpet in bathrooms in all of our 4 houses, and never had an actual problem with it, other than the general impracticality. We took it out of one house when the toilet overflowed, and took it out of the other houses preemptively. No mold ever grew, or anything else just from general use.
We have a large master with two vanities, a jetted tub and an enclosure that has both toilet and shower stall. All but the latter enclosure has wall to wall carpet. This is the first time I've ever had an arrangement like this, but it is just fine. I would not want carpet in the toilet area.
