Where are the best places to get great towels? What brands are nice?
TJMaxx, Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, Home Goods, ... for great brands for less.
BB&B with a coupon.
Target’s Fieldcrest Luxury Solid Towel is the best for most people. Not so super soft, but great for budget.

Lands’ End Supima Bath Towel is more of an investment, but you get a lot for your money.

Depends on your budget, you can also consider Towels by Gus Natural Plush Micro-Cotton Towel.
Towels by GUS - Natural Plush Micro Cotton Towel
Pottery Barn Hydrocotton Bath Towel

Pick combed, long staple or ring-spun cotton. If a towel label says only "cotton," it’s probably a shorter-fiber cotton, and the towel is probably less durable and possibly less soft.
Towel weight is quoted in GSM, or grams per square meter. A lower GSM translates to a lighter, thinner towel that will dry more easily. A higher GSM means plusher towel that is very nice to touch, but will take longer to dry. The edge seams should be folded, with tight or double stitching to ensure maximum durability.

Impractical as you will have hard time to reach your back with a tiny washcloth, and give it a little massage/rub too...
Time consuming: all that "wipe. wring. repeat"
