Sounds like someone is trying to make Lowe's and Home Depot more $$$$. Who doesn't want double sinks? Well, single people I guess....LOL

Haha. A big eyeroll from me too. Thank God that I don't pay attention to those things! I will agree that an all white bathroom sucks. Our secondary bath has dated white tile throughout with white grout. Impossible to keep clean. I hate it very much. My home, built in 1989, has no medicine cabinets whatsoever so I guess it was ahead of its time, lol.

I personally like a big tub and a shower. Smallish - or no - tub is a dealbreaker.

Both my husband and I use both sinks.

Sounds like you need to clean out your medicine cabinet. Many of us don't keep all that in a medicine cabinet. We don't even have all of those items.
That is actually the typical average home. Are you "that perfect" that you don't have any of these items in your bathroom?

You've never been to my daughter in law's house. Both bathrooms are full of makeup items.

I see bathrooms like this all too often:

I work hard to make sure my wife doesn't do this with our bathroom...

You'll never convince me to lose my double sink, heck I'm looking to swap the single for a double in the kids bathroom as they get older.

I don't wear makeup often, but even if I did, I have a wide drawer between the cabinets to put "stuff" in.

That is a precious article. So everything they have been telling everyone to do for bathrooms is now "out"

White tile, soaking tubs, dual sinks and nickel finishes

It's all a long con, all of this house stuff. As soon as people get whatever the trend is, boom! Magically the trend goes out.

I'm so over it. I'm aiming for the most unfashionable house now.

Where do they get this stuff?

DH and I are totally happy with two vanities, two sinks and two big mirrors in one big master bath. In fact, when I think about it, this must be the only true luxury item in this house, except for the shower we just had redone.

When I saw this, I thought they must be talking about hallway bathrooms, but no, they mean the master. . I don't think many of the newer master bathrooms are lacking the space required for two sinks, and this isn't something I want to give up. I need my personal space. If they were talking about secondary bathrooms, I might agree. Our former home had a hallway kids bath with two sinks and I hated it. If we had remodeled, I would have switched it to one sink with more counter space. The second sink was never used and just collected dust and odds and ends.

I opted to put only one sink in the hall bath when I built a couple of years ago. Interestingly, the vanity in that bathroom is actually larger than in the master due to the different configuration of the rooms (master is more of a square, hall bath is a long, narrow rectangle). There still would have been more counterspace in there than in the master, even with a 2nd sink. But since I only have one kid, it didn't feel worth it to me.

And I really do appreciate that extra length of counter, that's where I clean the humidifiers, including putting vinegar into them to soak for a while.
