I would look into having the doors changed so you can fit your camper in it - if that's feasible.
I wish we could but the doors pretty much sit on the ceiling line of the second floor. We would have to take out the second floor to do that-something we really don't want to do.
I just had another thought. Could you open up the right SIDE of the garage (or the rear) with a garage door to accommodate the camper (assuming you could drive the camper in and out this way)? This way, you wouldn't mar the charming old front elevation, but you'd still get a modern function from it.

Hmmm, that is an idea but I really don't think it would work because the second floor. We would have to cut out part of the second floor in order for the camper to fit. It is just too tall.
no reason to rush into anything but at least address any roof leaks (if needed) to keep the bones in good shape and preserve the structure. Love the structure and many people would kill for storage that exists in there.

Leaks were already addressed. But, we do need to replace the roof cap does need to be replace.
Totally cool building! With some paint and landscaping, a half bath and a work sink and decent lighting, I could see a really neat crafters', quilters' and/or artist's co-op studio.
Don't know what your area is like, but if you could find an interested local person or group to get enthused, you might even get some free labor for some of the conversion. Maybe, if you're lucky, some materials, too. Those are the kind of folks who are resourceful about rounding up stuff.
I could see your spruced up building in a spread of one of the decorating magazines with a couple of quilts hanging out front. Wish I could be there for some classes!

Yes, but you aren't using the second floor now, so??

Yeah, it would be easy to take out the second floor but then we would destroy the historical aspect of the building-something we really don't want to do.
