Anyone ever seen the web site "Catalog Living"?

They take catalog photos and add script for an imaginary couple named Gary and Elaine that are supposedly living in the scene. It's meant to show how funny some catalogs photos are if you really look at them.

"Gary, you know I can’t wake up without a strong cup of coffee and getting hit in the face with a pendant lamp."

Hilarious! This one works even without the photo:
Quote:
"Simple really is beautiful,” Elaine thought to herself while lighting a sixth candle and placing a wooden necklace around the one vase not filled with sparkling Pellegrino.
People who wonder why things don't look as good at home as they did in the catalog look would do well to peruse the site.

I didn't even know Restoration Hardware had a children's catalog! That was priceless.

Love this one.

"No Elaine, I don’t think it’s taking our nautical theme “too far” to give our guests the feeling that our living room has capsized."

Those photos are hilarious, OP! And Emm74, it's pretty obvious those stylists don't have kids. (Actually, I don't have kids, but even I could see those rooms were ridiculous! )

(I also hated the trend of filling bookcases with "backward" books, i.e. spines at the back so you can't see the titles! I guess that's OK for people who don't actually READ and just use books as props.)
