If you paint multiple rooms, do you buy enough drop cloth for all the room? Is it possible to move drop cloth from one room to another room? For example, if you are starting the third room, probably you can move drop cloth from first room to third room, since first room is painted a while ago.
Personally I prefer something wider so that it almost covers the floor in front of 2 walls. Less moving it around and more room to move the later around. The drop cloth is only to protect the floor from spills and drips. Once a wall is painted you move it so of course you can move it from room to room.
Just like paint brushes, invest in the thickest/best drop cloth you can afford. You'll use it for years.
Sure you can move it from room to room and/or you can also keep it for future uses. Just make sure that the paint on drop cloth is dry before moving it to another area/room OR just be very, very careful if you are moving it when paint on it is still wet.
Not so sure if I would trust a 3' deep drop cloth unless you are extremely careful when you paint. Otherwise, I would not go with less than 6' deep to be on the safe side.
