I have atrium doors in my kitchen and my bedroom upstairs...so they only open on one side. I hate the vertical blinds, any suggestions on what else I could do with it?
I replaced the vertical blinds with mini blinds on each door in the kitchen, but I don't like that either.
Thanks!!

maybe a roman shade on each door. If you don't like verticals, and don't like a miniblind, you are running out of options. check out the smith-noble website. they have some nice blinds etc. I have never ordered anything from there, but the catalog looks pretty good.

If it's a privacy issue, that is, that you want the door windows covered at all times, then I'm not sure what to suggest if blinds don't float your boat. Maybe you could attach sheers over the door windows (rods at top and bottom and the sheers gathered.) But if it's just to block light, you could put up a curtain rod and run drapes (two panels, stored to each side of the door when not in use).

Have you considered a duette shade? Look them up. They are not dust collecters like blinds, but they can cover doors. You can dress them up with a nice valance. And they can be made in sizes to cover extra long doors; they just roll up like a shade but aren't as bulky as roman shades.

You can google it. I've seen them where they can move around the window (ie, let in light at the top and cover the bottom), but I like the look of them top-mounted, with a valence to cover the hardware. It dresses it up a bit and allows you to incorporate some fabric in the room. I should add that the shades come in different colors too.

I grew to hate all types of blinds. Their is no way to totally clean them. You think they are clean but not really. Anyway, I went back to drapes. JCPenney has a wide selection in all price brackets. Also, I didn't bother with fancy drape rods with drawstrings but used decorator rods. Oh someone mentioned a product in a previous post that doesn't collect dust. Oh really? Where do you live? EVERYTHING collects dust, unfortunately.

They make some other kinds of blinds that you can use.
They make a cellular shade, wood and sliding panels that will slide across the door

Grommet topped drapes would fold back easily and out of the way so that you can still use the doors. I have them on 9 foot slider that can be opened from either side. They work beautifully, and are really easy to slide over on the rod. They end up framing the doors well when not pulled to cover the doors since they fold neatly, so they're not those fluffy lumpy looking curtains that get in the way, so no tripping hazard.
