Do you prefer a T-Cushion or a Straight cushion? Do you think one is more comfortable than the other? Visually is one more appealing than the other?

Also what about number of cushions? On a sofa do you prefer a 3 cushion, a 2 cushion or a single long cushion?

What about skirted vs no skirt?

Nail head or not?

Straight Cushion - Unless the "T" is curved and graceful

Single Long Cushion

No Skirt

Nail Head - No preference because it depends on the overall decor and the sofa itself

Straight cushion, hands down.
Why?

However, to me even more important is to have pitch sofa with taller back height, and the right seat depth.

Straight, 2 cushion, non skirted, either or as long as the nail heads are not on top of the arms.

Generally straight, but these things go in and out of style. I think the T cushion has been a bit out of style for a number of years.

The overall style of the sofa is more important to me than the shape of the seat cushions.

T-cushions are still in style along with straight cushions.

Look here at sofas from Lee Industries. They are a favorite source for designers and make nearly every type of sofa under the sun.

Lee Industries Styles

As you said, it depends on the sofa. Some of the prettiest ones in the link have t-cushions.

Definitely no skirt, and I am not a nailhead person either. I like 2-3 cushions, depending on the size of the sofa. I think T and straight cushions can both look good.

Oh gosh, sofa skirts are just cat fur attractants in my house, so I avoid them. I like some 2 or 3-cushion sofas, but the 3 cushion one I have I am going to have reupholstered as a single long one so I can nap on it more easily. My other sofa is true Art Deco and I had it redone as a single long cushion as well; it's so much easier to vacuum! I also like tight-back cushions; the loose puffy ones truly drive me bananas.

As long and the couch is comfortable and durable, I honestly don't care.
What I can't stand are those couches with cushions that are so deep, to sit, you're practically laying down. And. You still can't get comfortable or get your back up against those cushions.

Note: Someone in our neighborhood threw out their old couch. I stole the cushions and use them for dog beds. They work fantastic!

I don't think I would want cushions sofa. The cushions get out of shape pretty fast. And I don't like sofas that are too soft. My personal preference is tight back sofa.
