Do you set your table with colorful plates and would you buy dinnerware sets for each holiday if you did not have to worry about storing the plates? How many sets do you own? There are so many different designs out there and it is just so hard to decide which color or pattern to buy...and I am just curious if anyone else is tempted to buy new sets every season when they are in stores.
nope, nope, nope... white and silver/platinum only for me please. The FOOD should be the visual focus, not some garish trinket bought at the dollar store.

HAHA For some reason that reminded me of an old boyfriend who said cars "should" only be black or white.
I've had some very delicious tacos served on bright orange plates. And a great piece of blueberry pie on a purple- blue plate. Then there was the tuna salad in the apple green bowl. But none of them came from the Dollar Store though.
I have a small, casual set of Christmas dinnerware which does not get much use.
I have a large set of Pfaltzgraf dinnerware that is patterned. I’ve has it since about 2000. It has not worn well, having discolored under the glaze. I’ve replaced a few pieces, and have decided not to replace. If I were 10 years younger, I would. My pieces were made in the States. I would not recommed buying this brand.
About 4 years ago I bought a set of white Wedgwood, I love it. I had been collecting white serving pieces for a long time. I use it whenever I can. It looks great sitting on colored tablecloths. The pieces are a true creamy white. They are a joy to handle, and they go easily into and out of the dishwasher. They look good with my sterling and also with my stainless. I waited a long time for my white Wedgwood. I love using it.
I like china with a different things painted on them for the holidays. Not necessarily specific to the actual holiday, but something different than everyday dishes.
As for everyday dishes, I prefer something white. I have Mikasa antique white from Costco as my everyday dishes. They are the same ones that they sell at Macy's for a much higher price.
I used to have multicolored plates just like these as given to me by a friend when I got my first apartment. She didn't want them anymore. I wasn't a fan. I like color but not on my dishes.
Why this pattern? Because I found a setting for 15 including dinner plates, bread plates, cereal bowls, serving bowls, & platters in this pattern. And believe it or not, it all cost me only $5. So, that is how I picked that pattern. I have added to the plates but because it is a rare pattern, cost me a lot more than $5. I need to add to the cereal bowls because believe it or not, 15 is not enough-if we were the have the ENTIRE family, we would need 18. (We THOUGHT 21 but my step-daughter just broke up with her significant other so he & his two daughters are no longer in the picture-at least for now.)
For our everyday dishes, we have a mix-match of different Corelle patterns. We also have a set of 4 of china plates that have flowers painted on them. The "chef" uses these plates all the time but I prefer the Corelle.
I’ve always loved my Franciscan Desert Rose pattern. I wanted it as a teenager and when I got my first really settled apt after college I splurged. I still use it regularly, alternating with my Kafuh Cherry Blossom
I picked out Royal Doulton Provencal (now discontinued) in 1974. I loved it then, I still love it, and I have used it every day since. And have owned nothing else.
