Thinking Spring and want to redecorate my living room. Have a medium brown couch and 2 recliners and chocolate brown drapes. It's a log home with medium light stain on the walls, lots of windows and light. Thinking blue pillows and other accents, maybe new rugs. What shade of blue do you like with chocolate brown?

I am seeing lots of green now and I think I might go that way with the brown furniture. https://images.search.yahoo.com/sear...-web&fr=mcafee

As much as I do love blue, green is trendier now, and I think it will be around for awhile. What I'm seeing is yellow green, like a spring green. I imagine you can find greens in stores now. Since you have lots of natural light, think about adding a large plant, as well. Green makes all colors look better. And, don't forget to add bits of white in lampshades, picture frame borders, accessories. I think your brown will freshen up with green and white.

If you must, must have blue, then I'd suggest some shade of teal or turquoise. I think light blue and brown in combination is a dated look, that never was that great in the first place. (IMO)

A medium blue looks nice. What Shade of Blue with Chocolate Decor?-img_0118.png

This was how my tv room looked last year, before we moved. I bought the pillows from Pottery Barn, and liked the way they added a punch of blue to an otherwise neutral room with brown sofa.

I'm not sure of the shade of blue as I was never a fan of blue and brown together. Here are some ideas:

Maybe a spring color like green or a yellow would be better...unless you love blue

Here is a color scheme idea:

I'd use Navy, dark rich turquoise, light turquoise, grayed brown, & chocolate.

If you want to add in a pop of blue amidst your brown anchor pieces, make it really pop. I’m not into navy and brown because you lose the contrast. I’d go for a cerulean or azure, maybe even a lighter tint to make it really pop against the brown. Make it intentional.

Yeah the brown with the grayish-greenish-blue is kind of dated now, although I think if you're going to use blue with brown, that's the best tone (cool with warm). I do like the green/brown pics that Silibran posted and I think lime-ish greens (and yellows with charcoal gray) are the on-trend colors these days.

There was another shade of blue with brown that was popular about 10 years ago and it should have died but it hung on for awhile It was awful.

Ugh...yellow and gray.

Seriously though it doesn't matter what is trending. For the OP if you like browns and blues look for a comforter or area rugs with those colors in some stores. Find one that appeals "to you" and match that blue.
