Good info. I used to love Sherwin Williams but have gotten away from them in the past 5 years or so. I really like Benjamin Moore's paints for cabinets. Their Advance is self leveling and is beautiful

Am right in the middle of kitchen renovation. Just finished the walls and getting ready to tackle the cabinets. Am really hoping it all turns out well.

Good to know. I’m thinking of brightening up my laundry room cupboards with paint. Not sure where to buy BM paint around here, but surely it’s here somewhere.

K'ledgebuilder taught me something last spring about paint types when trying to figure out the best paint to use on our new solid wood front door - ALKYD! I didn't know anything about that type of paint, had never heard of it before. Now that I know about it, I love it! It is tough stuff that is very hard to chip. I recently used it (left over from front door) to paint over laminated cabinets in our media room. Went from white cabinets to black, only took two coats for perfect coverage. All I did for prep was wipe everything down with TSP to get grease and dirt off. No sanding. I've since accidently hit some of the cabinets while installing media equipment and dragging wires across the edges. No damage whatsoever (which really surprised me).

We had our kitchen cabinets painted last year. Guy lightly sanded, and then primed, and then painted. Went from a mahogany colored wood cabinet to white. Looked great at first, but has since started chipping here and there, some areas even completely worn off. NOT HAPPY. He used basic S/Williams flat white wall paint. Cheap stuff, but I didn't know any better at the time. I am convinced that had he actually used good paint, alkyd paint, we'd have far less chipping going on today. We'll have to redo these cabinets again in the near future. But this time, it's DIY (we spent $6,000 on that guy).

Some time ago I asked at a paint store what kind of paint to use for kitchen cabinets. The advice was to bring in a cabinet door or drawer, they would look at it and then recommend what products to use.
