I am assuming that when you say you are going to use color on the bb you mean on all of the trim? I would never do the baseboards a different color than the remaining trim.
If you go to Home Depot, their painting software allows you to change the color of the trim and the walls according to what you would like. There are also some sites on line that allow you to try different combinations.

IMO this only works if you have really nice trim. It brings attentionto the trim so if the trim is not that nice it brings attention to the fact that it is not that nice. I think it looks great when the trim is nice trim.

Are you going to live there forever? If so, do it. Otherwise...I would run screaming from a house in which all the baseboards were painted colors and needed to be repainted.

I think it sounds very interesting. Go for it! You can always paint it white if you don't like how the color looks.

Fix the house for you, not for prospective buyers...

I understand people who say so, but I can't hear any more of them saying "this is not a nice feature for selling", especially when the feature is so easy to fix if the future owner (if there is one) does not like it.

Yes, I will personalize my house. I live in it and if I can't do it I might as well pick a model home, cookie-cutter place to live in.

Unless you have incredibly nice trim and really want to accentuate it, and also want to give it a beach-like feel (if picking blue, I mean), I would not do it.

Not bc "it is too taste specific", just bc it is not my taste.
