I'll definitely consider painting the siding if it saves money.

The point of siding, though, is that it is (almost) no maintenance, and if you paint your current siding, you will need to repaint it every 5-7 years.

I'm trying to think of what color the siding should be on our home. We recently replaced the door and its Forest Green (I know, should have thought about that considering the siding choice was coming up in 2 years). The shutters are also Forest Green but we're open to changing those.

The main thing is deciding on what color the siding would be. I'm thinking Sage would work with the door and shutters, but my wife is leaning Greyish.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The house looks yellow to me, I try a very dark navy blue almost black for door and shutters~

The yellow on the house now appears to be faded out so you might look at a brighter yellow. Be careful of the shade though because yellow can be beautiful or gawd awful. Go for a drive and look at yellow houses and find the shade you like. Take a photo, note the address and let your contractor who is going to replace the siding look at it as they should be able to pick out what color it is. The green shutters and door will then stand out much more.

Interesting you mention yellow. There is a home in our neighborhood that IS yellow with a green door and green shutters. The yellow isn't really our taste.

The faded yellow looks more like a cream on the house and I think I prefer it being the cream color. I'd be open to a goldish color if that would appear nicer

Attached is a picture of the neighbor's home. I think I don't like their color scheme because the roof is brown.

This, except I might go a shade darker. Whatever you choose make sure it plays nice with the brick. I would not want white siding on this house. Perhaps a sandalwood color? Have a look at Ben Moore's Toasted Almond color. Or you could go slightly lighter.

Yellow on a colonial house tends to be a little dated, unfortunately, unless most of the other neighboring houses have a beige/cream/tan color scheme. I would shoot for pale gray siding, bright white trim, forest green door and sage green shutters.

If you're not painting the brick on the front porch along with the siding, I would definitely stay on the warm side of cream/tan. The brick has warm tones from the reds and browns and would not be a great combination with a gray or even a yellow.
