I'm looking for a really, really wonderful set of sheets for a king size bed. Anyone have any suggestions?

If there's already been a thread on this, feel free to tell me!

Thanks everyone!

I got some 1000 thread count sheets from Overstock.com for about $125. a king set, and I am always disappointed now if there are any other sheets on my bed. I'm not really sure if there is any discernable difference once you get past 450-600 tc though, but basically, the higher the better..and of course, nothing but cotton.

I too am an "Over Stock" shopper.

I always look for the high thread count,
OH i just bought these "German" flannel sheet for $34 .... most awesome sheets i've ever had.

Egyptian Cotton is another thing to look for.

since i quite shopping locally, and started on OverStock... i've never been disappointed in the comfort of my sheets.

though about 15 yrs ago, i purchased a set from JCP .... cost me $75 per sheet!! on sale. but they are very soft .... but WAY too expensive ... now that there is OverStock... and no i don't work for them... i just LOVE their bedding and you can't beat the prices.

I have gotten great deals at Overstock.com (they just had a huge bedding sale last month) and Tuesday Morning. I got a set of 600 tc sheets at overstock for $69 last year. They are the BEST sheets I have ever bought.

I think Hotel Collection egyptian cotton sheets from Macy's are the absolute best. They are not cheap, but so worth the money. The best sheets I have ever owned.

Default 1000 Tc

I have a set of 1000 TC Egyptian Sheets and I honestly prefer my 600 TC Sateen sheets. Don't get me wrong, the 1000 TC are nice and you can feel the difference. I just like the 600 TC better.

I bought several sets of Pinzon velvet flannel (NOT the regular flannel sheets) sheets on Amazon, for around $69 for the kings size. I just love these!!!! I use them year round, as I hate smooth sheets, I prefer the flannel. These are the nicest flannel sheets I have seen lately, especially for that price.

I think the type of cotton and processing are more important than the thread count. I have 400TC twill sheets by Calvin Klein I bought on eBay that are totally satisfying. I went back and won three more sets. They listed at $100-125 for each piece, and I bought them for under $25 each with shipping. They came in various colors, and matching the various colors up took some time.

I tend not to buy any fabric based products unless I have seen and felt it in hand at a store. So my online buying is complicated by that. In fact I am off to the mall this morning, to check out some stuff at Old Navy, Macy's and Sears before bidding.

If I was buying today I would try some of the new bamboo sheets. The bamboo towels I have seen are extremely soft and supposedly more durable.
