Hopefully, this is the correct forum for this thread.

I need to buy a mattress/sleeping bag/yoga mat/something comfortable to sleep on for 2-mos, while I rent a cabin sans bed. I could buy an inflatable mattress, but I bought 1 for $100 when I moved into a previous apt & it lasted 1-mo. I will not be taking it with me (no room), when I leave, so need to ensure it's not pricey enough that it hurts when I leave it behind.

I don't care if I sleep on the floor or on a frame & was looking for sleeping bags that might be thick enough to sleep on somewhat comfortably for a couple of mos. Are there such things for around $100?

Does anyone have any recommendations on what worked for them? Gaiam.com used to have 2" thick yoga mats (filled with cotton batting) that I'd slept on (2 on top of each other, actually) for many months, but they don't seem to make them anymore & I can't find the proper search terms to find something similar.

Any ideas? Thank you!

you might try googling camping equipment for sleeping.

They make folding cot thingies but not sure how comfortable they are.

I'm a big fan of memory foam, have one of these in my DIY camper van. Just as an alternative option.

As a side note, I found that 5" wasn't enough to keep my hips off the floor (side sleeper) and when given the option to buy a second time went with 8" which is perfect for me.

Personally I favor the futon type mattress, but I like a very firm mattress and don't care for the 'sink' of the foam mattresses. I have used one on the floor when I was moving, not as good as a real bed, but it did the job for six weeks.

I would still go for an air mattress. We have a Coleman one from Walmart which can be 2 twins or a queen, that has gotten hard use with the grandkids and it has held up fine. We slept on it for a few nights when we moved and it’s very comfortable.

That would be a very heavy tranquilizer and a zero gravity chair in the "fully-reclined" position!

I would still look at an air mattress. We have a SoundAsleep Dream Series air mattress. I bought it several years back for a work project out of town. I was on pier diem for 6 mos and it was much cheaper to buy an unfurnished apt and pocket the money than the people who were paying for furnished apartments/extended stays. I slept on it every night for 6 mos comfortably, only adding a little air every few days. I have also used it for weekend guests probably every other month for the last 3 years since our apartment was a studio apartment but we had frequent guests.

We are taking it with us to the house to use in the 2nd bedroom for now until we get a day bed or sleeper sofa.

All in all, it has lasted me a long time for like $110. On top of that, it has a 1 year warranty. So, if something did happen to it, you'd get it replaced anyway.

Air mattresses are pretty darn comfy nowadays. I would go for one of those.

Thank you for all the replies. I've been on the road in torrential rain for a week, with sketchy or no 'net, so just wanted to say I've read everyone's posts, appreciate the replies & want to thank everyone before I get kicked off the 'net again.

Thank you, All.
