I'm gonna say no mat in the half bath. The only reason someone's going in there is to use the toilet and wash their hands. Water and "other stuff" will splatter around. Best to have just the hard surface floor for easy cleaning. Only place you need a bath mat is outside the shower or tub so your wet feet don't leave big puddles on the floor, and so in the coldest weather it's not so cold for your feet. In a half bath in cold weather people are going to be wearing shoes or at the very least slippers.

Why would anyone leave "big puddles on the floor" after the shower?
Place your towel near the shower before you start. Shower start to finish, then turn off the water. ... Dry off in the shower starting with your hair then working your way down. Then dry your feet. Step out. Only your feet soles should be wet. Moist actually, from standing in your shower, but not dripping wet...
AND: you don't splatter "other stuff" on the floor. You aim. If you can't aim correctly- you sit down.
Splatters on the floor... seriously?
I would say white mat. The wall already gives color, you don't want to add any more color to the room unless you find the exact shade of red which will be hard. So go with white
