We have a temper-pedic king size bed and we have found it not only very hot to sleep on, but I also wake up with back pain and morning stiffness, to the point I can barely walk.

However, that bed cost us $$$$$$$, so I don't want to not use it...that was the whole point of getting the bed.

I was thinking that maybe a thick bed topper would work. I was thinking of down or a wool topper that would add more cushioning.

Anyone ever do that? Which brand worked for you? Any ideas on the best one? Wool or down?

All and any ideas welcome. Thanks.

Our former bed, which is now in a guest room, was my all time favorite. It has a lambs wool mattress cover. This was quite pricy ($300), but it is washable, perhaps more so than down would be.

I honestly can’t say if it is the mattress or the topper that makes it so comfortable, though.

Call Tempurpedic and ask them. Their beds are supposed to be quite good. If you are having problems with comfort, i suggest calling to see if the maker has suggestions.

How long have you had it? It took us about a week to adjust. Your body gets used to your old mattress so it has to readjust to the new one.

I love our tempurpedic

Please consider using products other than those that are derived from animal cruelty (down and wool). Memory foam is supposed to be the best mattress topper for back pain.

Tempurpedic's customer service worked really well with us on an issue. If you are a "hot" sleeper their cooling top works.
How long have you had it? It does take some getting used to.

we had the temperpedic for 7-8 yrs and never got use to it....actually had trouble walking when I got out of bed...couldn't straighten up and had to walk on furniture to move....now we sleep on a lumpy 20 yr old bed and sleep better.... I also find that the temperpedic is hot and I'm normally not a person who sweats....I did call the company and told them this and they just said we had to get use to it....well, 7 yrs later I still have problems, so does Hubbie......

Woo by the way is cruelty free... the wool is sheared off with clippers....and we are leaning towards wool toppers....btw - we use to have sheep for wool, so I know...we didn't eat them.

so thanks for the info.....any other info on bed toppers....?

I had a temperpedic neck roll and I bought it specifically to support my neck due to a pinched nerve. It was too hot for me. I found the same with memory foam. I wound up with a My Pillow that worked well for me, but I know a lot of people that hate the My Pillow too. I do think that the lambs wool is better than down that I find to be hot.

Just curious if you have had the back checked. Maybe it is not the bed that is causing your pain. We have a very firm bed and if I sleep in something that is cushy my back hurts, but that is because we prefer firm.

We're on our second Tempurpedic (queen to king). We don't have any of the fancy toppers, but neither of us have ever found it hotter than any other mattress. And we're both hot sleepers.
