I wanted to transform this commode to a vanity. Inside and back are ready for a vanity top and pipe work. I was thinking marble but wondering if i should get a ready made one with sink then get a stone finish guy to trim it or get it customized. Which make more economically sense? How much should I expected to pay? Thank you.

Glad to see you are using the definition of commode that is more akin to a dresser or credenza. Otherwise, I was envisioning something quite horrid...

For what it's worth, I really like the look of furniture pieces turned into vanities. It is usually not cheaper, but it ends up being a unique piece.

Nice piece of lacquer oriental furniture. I was worried about possible wood expanding, warping or cracking in humid conditions and contact with water, but I see, that they aren't uncommon in such places.

And repurposing furniture gives them a new life:

I think that a black granite would look great on the top.
Here, with a really fancy bowl:

Maybe something like this:

You can have marble or granite cut to fit the piece-
The fabricators can mount an undermount sink of your choice to the cut piece- you're ready for plumbing.

Yeah, it would be hard on your back bending over to wash your hands.
