This large 21" diameter pot used to have a 10 foot tall dracaena plant it. Esthetically, does this pot necessitate an indoor plant be placed inside it or do you all think it would look fine on its own in a corner?

I'd probably put dried fronds, pods, etc., in it. I did that with a similar pot in a spot that wasn't the right lighting for a growing plant. I've found packages of these ornamental dried assortments at Ross and I'm sure stores like JoAnn and Michael's would have them too.
I tried mine "empty" for awhile but it just looked lost and forgotten. The fronds, etc., added height and filled up the airspace - made all the difference.
If the pot itself is decorated in a noticeable manner, no. It makes a statement all by itself. Just plain like that sort of begs to be balanced visually. Sort of screams "I used to house something alive, but it is long dead." You don't necessarily need a live plant.
Looks too weird by itself. it's not like an urn-shape, where nothing is really required to fill a large hole at the top of it. So, for it to not look weird, it needs a plant in it, fake or real.
Hard to say without seeing it in context. Personally I'd plant something in there.
If you have or can get a saucer that looks good under it then you can just plant directly into it; otherwise I'd think about putting the saucer down inside the decorative pot and planting in an inner pot - which you can lift out if needed. I've got two big plants one of which is in a terra cotta pot with a saucer under it, the whole thing in a big wicker basket - which looks good; the other planted directly in a decorative pot with a matching decorative saucer under it - which also looks good.
If you need a low light plant, consider a big spathyphyllum. They don't go so tall as a tree-type plant.
I think it looks fine without anything in it. If you like it empty then that is all that matters. I have done that with one large pot that was a gift which I loved and still wanted to admire after I got rid of all my houseplants. I used to have a lot of houseplants, but about ten years ago I decided I didn't want to deal with their dust and maintenance any longer. Thirty years of that nonsense was enough for me.
No houseplants and no more pets either! Love it! And I love my empty pot.
I think it depends where you put the pot, what your style is, and what part of the country you're in. I think it would look very nice with a pre-lit rose gold colored pencil fake Christmas tree in it (Walmart has them and they're inexpensive). Put something inside the pot to elevate the tree, so it is all above the rim of the pot. Add something around the bottom of the tree at to cover the base. Light it up at night to enjoy year round. It adds sparkle, ambiance, and interest to the room you put it in. No watering required. ;-)
