I prefer floor length, but truth is 84" curtains are too short, and 96" are too long and I hate that puddled look and I hate hemming. I have a lot of curtains that fall to the top of the baseboard, and then I cover that up with furniture. No one is any the wiser.

I also prefer lined curtains to keep the cold out in the winter.

Omg, never use short curtains! If you want fabric on the window but hate full length do a Roman shade.

IMO, curtains should be hung as high as possible and should reach the floor. I think the “puddled” look might be a trifle outdated. But this is my opinion.

Preferentially, I’ve moved past curtains, except for some cafe curtains. I prefer shades or blinds.

Do searches for spaces like yours and look at what is being done these days. You might be surprised. Of course, the pendulum will swing back, and curtains and drapes will be trendy again.

I prefer floor length curtains I think it’s looks more elegant. You can add valances with sheers even to give it a more open look.

If elegant is the look you're going for then yes, floor length would be the way to go. I like a more casual, carefree look to my home especially since it's in a beach town. Easy to open and close - no pinched pleats - and lightweight material. The puddled look never made sense to me. It reminds me of people who wear their jeans too long and traipse around with the material dragging on the ground.
