I'm getting married 6/14/08 and will be relocating. My 15 year old daughter is getting her own room and an opportunity to decorate it as she likes. She has some ideas and we've been trying to find images or ideas online. Problem is, search with terms like teen girls bedroom or something like results in a lot of porn sites popping up.. Ugghhh..
Anyway, was wondering if anyone here had ideas they could share. Sites that have images where she could actually see what a room would look like and pick something she likes or get a better idea of what she wants to do.
Right now she has a general idea. Baby blue walls with splattering paint in deep tones of purple, green and royal blue. Deep royal blue rug. Her idea is she doesn't want it looking all girly but more like having a "chill" feel to it (her exact term).
She might be a bit too old, but I'd still check out pbteen.com . My dd's room was redecorated about a year ago (blue walls, white ceiling, near white mini blinds, etc) and she added a great blue print area rug and several white storage baskets with blue print, liners both from PB Teen. It really pulled her room together and looks great .
you can even try HG.tv web site [sometimes its not the easiest to navigate] but if you can find something about Teen room design -- design on a dime and something for teens. that may give ideas too.
I like the Pottery Barn Teen site for ideas too. Their stuff is expensive but you can usually find something similar at Target or where ever to put together the same look for 1/2 the price.
JCPenney has a great selection of comforters etc for kids/teens. the girl selection is really good. I have boys, but found some good stuff there too! lots of good colors, and a lot of accessories. In this day of high gas prices, let you fingers do the typing! Heck, even having it delivered is cheaper than going to the store.
A few tips -
Make sure theres a lot of storage space you only need more as the years go on and you might want to consider painting a wall or an area of it with chalk board paint. I love that stuff! It makes it easy to get creative or write notes. Even practicing phrases or words for language class.
