What type of curtains or window dressings are suggested for a newly painted spare bedroom?

Are you going to need privacy for this room? Do you want the curtains to keep out drafts from the windows? Do you prefer blinds over curtains? Do you want something you can toss in the wash when it gets dirty, or are you willing to vacuum blinds or shades?
You have to answer these questions (and probably more that I'm not thinking of) for yourself, and proceed accordingly.
Oh, yeah ... And how much do you want to spend??

what are the colors used for the walls and furniture. Quick tip is to choose light colors for dark walls and vice-versa. post a pic if you can that would help in suggesting you the right type of curtain.

since we don't have a lot of details, a good, inexpensive source for drapes/curtains is JCPenney catalog. go to jcpenney.com and look at all of the styles, colors etc. they have tons! a great source. plus, they are always sending emails with free shipping etc. I have had great luck there.

You have to be good in color combination in that case. Because it will always depend to the color of the walls and also the style. But i agree with jeanne211. She has a greater idea. I have a friend she is a restaurant interior designer] I'll try to ask her some tips about your question.
