My living room is 14 x 24 and has a royal blue carpet wall to wall. I have two This End Up sofas with light beige slipcovers and a 10' long floor to ceiling medium pine wall unit. So what has to stay in the room is the pine furniture and unfortunately, for a while, the blue carpet.

I am going for English Country or Cottage style. There is a large picture window on the wall opposite the wall unit and I need to dress that window. Then I need to paint the walls. I am partial to pastels. Any suggestions for the curtains/fabric or the wall color?

Thank you for ANY suggestions!

Since you want to change your style to cottage style go for light neutral colors like beige, earth or rustic shades. Curtains can be in light floral prints. check out some online sites for ideas

I agree with the light neutral colors...no pastels with royal blue carpeting - it will never look right.

I like the sound of the the blue and yellow. I would paint the walls a creamy yellow kind of a custard or buttercream. I would paint the trim in white. For fabrics, the Toile would be great as well as checks, stripes and plaids done in yellows, blues and whites with maybe a little green or red thrown in for some pop. You could do toile curtain panels trimmed in a plaid or check.
