Ha! When I bought the towels from Younkers the saleslady made the remark that the Karen Neuburger towels were the best since MARTEX stopped making towels. I have several Martex towels that are more than 20 years old and look better than this trash I've been buying. They are very faded but there are no holes, no fraying, and no PULLS!! Too bad they're hand towels....
I bought a set of DKNY towels from Macy's around six years ago - they pretty much had pulls and some fraying within six months. Will be looking at Land's End when I buy for the new house.
We purchased the store brand towels from Bloomingdale's, and they are holding up well... 3 or 4 years and counting. The bath towels were $15 or $20 each.
I bought some Martha Stewart towels in KMart a decade ago. They still look like new, though the washcloths are beginning to thin in the center. I can't say if her new towels will hold up as well, but I'll probably buy more next time I need them.
Try Tuesday Morning. They have high-end stuff for fabulous discounts. I've bought linens and towels there and have never had a problem. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that you get what you pay for and although their products are more expensive than WalMart's, it's worth it in the end.

Same here. I've never been disappointed with any linens purchased at WalMart. Good price....good quality....good selection.
I did start buying beach towels when they went on sale after summer. The grandkids love having their 'own' big towel at grandmas house. It also keeps the spare bathroom all colorful looking.
Y'all might wanna know this . . . I forget that not everyone realizes what has happened to our textile mills here in NC.
There is no more Cannon Mills. No more brands of Fieldcrest, Martex, Royal Velvet, etc. made in USA.
The "brand names" are owned by a company out of Hong Kong - Li & Feng - and are all made in China.
NC does not make these wonderful products any longer. Our plants are closed. Thousands lost their jobs - and now you get to buy crappy towels from China.
I recently purchased new bath towels from Younkers- Karen Neuburger for $15- $10 off. I have had them for maybe 6 weeks, and they look like #$#-
the threads on both sides of the towels have somehow gotten pulled, and they now look like a cat has been hooking its claws into them like crazy. Also bought some at Walmart for $7.50- just as thick and big as the K.N.s. They are behaving the same way!! So, saw some 30 x 58's at Target for $10- tried them- and within one week they are starting to do the same thing!!! Am I losing my mind? Nothing has changed about the way I use them, or wash them- my 8 year-old towels have no pulls at all. Has this been happening to anyone else? I did pull one loop on a towel with my fingertips, and it pulled out so EASILY- almost as if they are barely woven in the towel..I sure would appreciate some feedback....
You bought cheap towels. Even if the price you paid was not cheap, they are cheaply made. Also, if you are washing bras in the same load as your towels, stop it immediately. Bra hooks will wreck a towel faster than almost anything. Hook your bras closed and put them in a lingerie bag if you wash them together with your towels.
Go to Macy's and try the Charter Club brand. That is what I have, I have had them for years and they look brand new. They were more expensive per towel but they were worth it. Polo also makes a good towel but they are not as fluffy and soft as Charter Club.
Or, wait for a white sale at Restoration Hardware. My parents have towels from there and they are amazing. So fluffy and soft. Not cheap, but with towels you pretty much get what you pay for.

Lol, hi Ani! I was just going to post the same thing! Saw Cannon towels at the store the other day and thought "that's funny, didn't they close down that mill? Do they have another one somewhere?" so I looked it up and found the same thing. I bet most people don't even realize it's nothing more than a name, I wouldn't have known that before I moved here.
