We've always gotten window quotes from them that are too high....
do you have any other building supply yards near you that you can get another quote for comparison? We have many of these types of places here...like Kohl's Building Products, Cramers Home Centers...open up your phonebook and look under building supplies.
Ok... thanks... It's so easy to assume that the big box retailers (with their purchasing power) have the best deals.
Actually that's typically not the case. When you go to Home Depot (and stores like it) you're paying for the convenience of having all kinds of things in one place.
Also remember that they have an enormous amount of overhead expense that a lot of the "little guys" don't have.
Earlier this summer I got quotes to replace the central air in a rental house. I got one quote from Home Depot - and theirs was almost $2,000 higher than the small local guys I ended up going with.
I recently replaced 6 windows in a house. I found the big box stores were too high and the quality too low. I ended up with Renewal by Anderson, much higher quality and only a few dollars more.
I shop Home Depot and Lowes all the time but for windows, HVAC, nearly anything "major" you want to hit the yellow pages!
