I'm closing this Friday, the 9th on a 3 bedroom townhouse. I currently live in a 1 bedroom apartment... needless to say, I have some furniture to buy!
I live in Atlanta, GA.
Any ideas on some good furniture stores? I really only need the following: a Queen size bed (and mattress, etc.), dresser, 2 night stands, sofa, and love seat. I have a coffee table, end tables, etc. Would it be possible that I can get all of this for no more than $6k?
I also plan to get two flat screen TV's (32" and 20-something inch) - but plan to get that from a WalMart, Best Buy, etc. type store.
How long do you want to hold onto the furniture? If you're thinking your tastes might change in the next couple of years, I'd go for some Ikea pieces. At that price point, they do the most interesting things.
For items you think you'll hold on to, I'd have a look at Room and Board. They aren't the cheapest, and they don't do much in the way of sales, but they've got some beautiful beds that are far better made than comparable furniture you'd get from other mid-level furniture stores.
I dont know if you have an HH Gregg near you but they have very affordable prices....and they match your prices. And most places will match leading competators prices, and some even lower the price against their competators prices if you point it out. I found a 50" LG Plasma on Amazon brand new for $799 with FREE shipping!!!
Also, I dont think you would even need to spend HALF of your budget on all of the items you're looking for....you should look into furniture warehouses, and a lot of places you can haggle the prices and get combination deals. And you may be pleasantly surprised on the prices and QUALITY....you just need to picture the individual items in YOUR home, and not in a warehouse cluttered with misc. furniture. I just bought a very nice leather sectional at a warehouse for $599...and they said if I ended up buying more from their store, they would have given me a discount on my entire purchase....and Im also too shy to haggle, but Im sure they would have. Especially with the economy being the way it is, I think people are more willing to negotiate price.
