There are already hardwood floors in other parts of this but in one room not yet pictured it was tiled poorly.

Any ideas on the pros and cons of floor materials? Marble is expensive but doable.

What about the marble mosiac tiles where one can purchase designs in 20' x 20" or 40' x 40". They can be inlaid with plain marble and perhaps create a nice effect.

My friends have started a blog on an old house they are redoing in El Paso and I posted it in the wrong place as its about interiors for now. Anyone can look and be a "follower" to discuss and receive updates but it is to remain non-commercial spam free.

I love the naturalness of slate. It goes with everything.

A slate floor can be decorated informal or formal. Whereas, marble is only formal and looks out of place with casual furniture.

I really think marble would look out of place in the house you have in your link. I see no reason to put in ceramic when you can have a natural stone.
