My wife and a I would like to switch out our current kitchen pendent lights for something a bit more fun.

We happened to see some great ones on HGTV'S 2010 Dream House. They are sold by Ethan Allen, but are $300 each.

ethanallen.com - Ethan Allen | furniture | interior design | retro photographers pendant

Does anyone have an idea where to find similar fixtures? I prefer new, so I'd like to avoid EBAY and CraigsList.

Thanks!
Alf

Jamesgirl,

Ohhhh....I like those too! The only issue is that we would prefer a rod instead of a cord so that the lights doesn't sway much.

These are a good alternative though if we can't find something cheaper than Ethan Allen.

Thanks!

Similar products but the price is still right up there.
Kitchen Lighting: Kitchen Lighting Pendant, Kitchen Pendant Lights & Fixtures, Restoration Hardware (http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/category/category_collections_gallery.jsp?navAction=jump&na vCount=8&categoryId=cat960011 - broken link)

Maybe bide your time and wait for a "sale" ?

Lifelongmogirl,

Wow....those are awesome. Unfortunately we've had a few bad experiences lately with defective products from RH. So my wife won't "go" for those.

Jamesgirl,

Yeah! That pendent looks a lot like EA'S. Have you ever ordered anything from lampsplus.com?

This forum is awesome! Thanks!!

I've ordered from LampsPlus.com several times. The shipping is fast and the customer service is good. I'll tell you, though, that whatever LampsPlus.com sells is usually available (same make and model) elsewhere online for less. When I find something I liike at LampsPlus.com, I do an internet search for that item to see how much cheaper I can get it somewhere else. I often have to use a similar description because LampsPlus.com may use a name unique to its website (as do many sellers). If the price difference isnt much, I'll go with LampsPlus.com because of the good service.

Looks like LampsPlus.com's price is right in the ballpark for that light:

Do you have a local lighting place or some what local. We had a spec house last December and needed pendent lighting plus other lighting and ceiling fans. We were not happy with Lowe's or Home Depot.
We were able to find a Lighting Place 1/2 hour away. Were able to see what we wanted but a few items did come from a catalog.
All I am saying is look in your back yard first-buy local if you can.

Period Lighting Fixtures and Glass Shades - Schoolhouse Electric Co. - Fixture Type - Pendants (http://www.schoolhouseelectric.com/fixtures-type.asp?type=Pendant - broken link)

None are exactly the same as your posted pic, but you did say you wanted to mix things up a bit, so this company is always a good resource.

But i will SECOND DKVA's recommendation to look in your local independent stores FIRST...most specialty lighting places can even special order stuff for you, and they can be very competitive with chain stores..
