I need to print about 900-1300 pictures for some photo albums that are long overdue but want this done before the 20th when we will have a house full of family. I was going to order from wallgrens since they were having a sale but I would still be looking at $90-130! Buying my own printer to do this is not an option right now, as I need these printed fast. Any tips? Thanks!

Have you tried a local photog. place in your town?
Would Costco have a better deal?

I used to do mine at king soopers/city market/kroger... if you shopped there enough you got points toward half-price photo prints. And they did a good job. I'm always disappointed by doing them at walmart. Walgreens is pricier I think, but I know there and many places if you order a certain #, the price goes down. $100 isn't too bad if it's long overdue, just remember what developing a roll of film used to cost and the # of photos on it, for some perspective

Do you really think printing 900 photos should cost you less? Paper and chemicals and human labor have to cost something.

Shutterfly and Snapfish are about the cheapest digital printing services at 9¢ a piece, but even they will cost you about $90 + shipping for 900 prints. If you are a new member you get 50 free prints, and if you join both you could save yourself approx. $20.

Even Costco costs more, at 13¢/print

If you have iPhoto from Apple, you could send use the software to create and order a book. They don't provide you with loose photos, they are printed directly on the page. There are pre-set layouts but you can play with that, and assuming 4 photos per page, a softbound book would cost you approx. $35. You could only put about 400 photos in a single book.

$100 to print 1000 photos? That doesn't really seem that steep to me. If you figure the cost of a printer, ink, and photo paper, there's no way you could print that many pictures at home for even twice that figure.
