Cat vomit, is going to eventually compromise the finish and possibly delaminate the edge of engineered, if the vomit stays and gets down into the seams. Same with cat urine.
Carpet actually does hold allergens trapping them until you vacuum. The static properties of the carpet holds it all until vacuumed.
Hard surfaces on the other hand, have those sitting on the surface, and unless your cleaning and wiping 24 hours a day, will be there as you casually walk by.
As you walk, the dust and allergens get stirred up and become airborne.
I guarantee, you will be cleaning the wood, more frequently than you vacuumed. It will actually be a mental victory, more than an actual victory, over your allergies.
