I need ideas for painting a large space. It is a great room and kitchen/eat in with no separating walls. I would like to do a beach theme, kind of beach chic if you will. But not bland colors. I would love to use brown, beige, and a turquoise color. I was originally thinking vertical stripes with varying thicknesses(white separation stripes) I am afraid that may be too much. If is the largest wall in the room. The purpose of the stripes was to help bring different colors into both spaces without it looking odd from one space to the other. Please help, anyone have ideas?

This is one of my favorite magazines and they always do articles on houses. Check out this page specifically on kitchens:

Kitchens - Total Beach House - Photos - CoastalLiving.com

Hope this will stir your "salt air".

OH, I love Coastal Living! Great inspiration, K'ledgeBldr.
Another one of my favorites for coastal design inspiration is Cote de Texas

COTE DE TEXAS: Kitchens 101: Elements to Copy
Stripes can be lovely and beachy- but would you consider doing horizontal? It would help your eye travel around the room and make the spaces feel connected.
Check out this room from "The Lettered Cottage Blog"

Also, you might want to check out Valspar's Seaside Retreat paint collection. The display is at Lowe's. Some beautiful coastal colors!

Good luck and have fun!
