Thank you everyone for the help. I think I will pick a color from the stone wall. Enjoy the spring weather!
A Musket Brown or Federal Brown would bring the stone color in nicely. There is also a soft, slate blue color (I can't think of the name right now) that would look nice as well.
You definitely don't want to use black. you should go softer. It looks like your shingles are in the brown family. you can look at the various standard colored shutters that you can purchase at the various home improvement stores, or you can purchase "paintable" shutters and choose a custom color. that is what we did. I think if you chose a shade of green, but not the dark hunter green, that would look really nice. I would paint the front door the same color as the shutters. I would re-paint the porch with the white. it looks really nice. It looks like a great house.
Agreed on the white porch. OP, what about a nice soft sage green on the shutters/door?
You have a lovely house. Consider making the investment of right sized shutters with all the hardware to really set it off!
At sherwinwilliams.com, they have a visualization site. You download a photo of your house, mask off different areas, and make the areas any color you want. It's super easy and fun.
We used Shuttercraft, in CT. They will also paint your shutters before delivery if you want.
