I would like to know how much it would cost me to have a 12x8 simple shed ( one window, one door, no water, no electricity) build on my backyard.
I saw a special by Costco for $1000 and wonder if I could beat the price considering material from Home Depot and Craigslist style handyman.
From HD ... I would venture to say that with a door and window, it's going to cost more. Those two aspects are going to cost about $250. Siding ... LP SmartSide siding panels ... for 12x8, you're going to need 10 sheets, so another $210 there. 3 sheets of T&G for the flooring and 4 sheets for roofing ... another $130. About 65 studs ... so another $200 there.
That's nearly $800 right there just in materials ... and I didn't even factor in any of the hardware, the vents, or interior shelving. And you're still going to have to design it yourself. That additional labor, if you're expecting the handyman to do it, is going to run well over $200.
That's exactly what I have right now. I would prefer something bigger, ideal would be 16x8, or even 18-20x8 ( so long it does not look like a container) but I cannot find anything in that size.
if it is exact, I think they make an extension kit for it. Check with Lowes, Royal or maybe this stie-http://sheds.usfenceonline.com/customerservice.html

Most municipals follow the universal building code (UBC) ... and in that, it states that permits can be required for new structures exceeding 130 sq.ft. That's why most DIY sheds will be less than 130 sq.ft. (10x12 being very typical).

Get the kit and DIY. It's a better deal.
Yeah, you are right. This is probably the easiest and cheapest solution
Thank you!!

Around here, we have companies which sell wooden playground equipment, and garden sheds. They are all lined up..different sizes and styles to look at. Can you find one of these places near you? You just pick out one you like and they put it up on your readied slab. This is what we did and it is adorable. Ours is about 10x16' and was about $2000+ but a smaller size might be in your range.
