I am in the process of buying a condo which has a big kitchen with a granite-topped island. There is no separate dining area, so I am thinking of buying counter stools and using the island as a dining room table. It may also double as a desk for my laptop, because my condo has only one bedroom. I am losing the home office space I have in my present two-bedroomed apartment. Does anyone have recommendations of stools that look good and are comfortable enough to sit on for more than ten minutes? They can't be terribly expensive either--not much money for new furniture.
Many people do what you are suggesting. The only thing I can recommend is not to bother looking for your bar stools in regular stores. They will only carry a couple Chinese brands which are cheap trash. Instead go to a specialty bar stool store. All major cities will have one or more stores like this. Here you will find not just 2 styles but 100 styles to choose from. Sit on them all till one feels comfortable to you.
Wow! Thank you both of you. I had no idea we had a place like this in Houston. I will go and check them out. I love city-data.com!
