p.s. what are shelter magazines?
I'm assume home decorating mag's. The cherry/granite/stainless kitchen is standard in many new home developments and remodels. Even the apartment complex down the block went that route when new owners updated the place a few years ago. In other words, it's a tried and true combo...it will look nice but won't really be unique. That's not a bad thing, some people go nuts trying to be unique and often end up with a big old mess.

I have an older style traditional kitchen and even though the materials I used are not the latest trends it still looks great BECAUSE it's a tried and true combo too. And it matches the syle of my home.

I really like the light fixture. It's very unique.

Good to know, thanks.

All wood species darken with time. Cherry darkens the fastest. And if sun is beaming through the window and hits cherry or maple the natural aging process will speed up 10 fold. Using darker stains the darkening process is barely noticeable if at all.

Cherry ages the most gracefully by sporting a deepening warm appearance. Maple turns from blond to yellow and oak will just take on a more dull color then it's white or red oak natural color. Put alder in the same category as cherry. Hickory with oak

I love love green but it is indeed a tricky color. If it is a light pistachio (hard to describe!) I would say your kitchen looks great, just be careful with the shade of green.

I love acqua green, but not in a kitchen, for sure.

There are some shades of light khaki (not beige, a mix of light green and very light brown) that I find very classy. They would look good too.

Best of luck!

I really like the first one, it is the pistachio-like I mentioned.

What about this one, I wanted to give you other suggestion too...
Palettes

This is called "sage green" but the "khaki" I had in mind is somehow similar to it. I hope you like it.
