Because so many feel fine wood should not be painted which I agree to a point. Depending on the age of your house, I have seen many homes built in the 60's and 70's that actually have low grade molding but someone stained them to look like oak. I personally love painted wood. My old house looked so dated with all that dark molding. When I painted it, it breathed new life into the house. What you can do is paint one section and see how you like it. If you hate it, then the paint can always be stripped off. A word of caution though, make sure you do sand down the varnish because the paint will peel off. Its gonna be a job but I think you will love the result in the end. Just take the steps to do it correctly.

Is your trim dark,medium, light? I personally prefer wood trim.

Love the look of white trim. I'm doing it in my living room in the near future, and the walls are chocolate brown.
