My family is a "Honda" family and that is all we drive. In fact I just bought a 2015 Civic for my daughter's first new car two weeks ago. We've put well over 200K miles on several different Hondas so I am not complaining about Honda in general.
However, my 2013 CRV just developed a major radiator leak for no reason: no damage, nothing hit it, all regular maintenance performed on schedule. At 43,00K it is out of warranty but the shop I took it to said it looks like the radiator was defective.
Anyone else ever had or heard of an issue with CRV radiators?
Is there a possibility that Honda will pay for a new radiator even though it is out of warranty?

The shop where I took it said it looks like it just came apart at the seams. Said it is made of aluminum and plastic and it just separated. Looks like defect.
They said they have never seen anything like it on a car that has less than 150-200 K miles.
It just started dumping antifreeze on my garage floor. Completely emptied so I put 3 liters in just to drive it to the shop which is 2 miles away.
You said that it is a "major leak", so where is the coolant leaking from? Have you looked at the lower radiator hose to make sure that it has a proper seal? I've seen a few instances where the lower hose wasn't snug or the hose clamp wasn't tightened all the way and coolant leaked out.
edit.. I just saw your post above about where the leak was. It sounds like you just need to just get a new one. Unfortunately, that seems like your only option since it is out of warranty.
A quick look online shows brand new 2013 CRV radiators for $98.51 at one place and $108.88 at another so if it was me I would get the wrenches out and pop in a new one and done. Stay with the larger online auto parts dealers or pick one up locally using a discount code for $40 off.
I say that because once I ordered from an online radiator place and once you put your charge card info in they added like $40 or $50 shipping, the others won't bug you for that.
