Honda notified me that their Pilots have a defective paint job where paint is visibly peeling from the roof and hood of my 2015 Pilot. Once the local service manager took pictures of the peeling, I was given approval for the job to be done.
This ordeal is a MONDAY-FRIDAY job! In addition, the service rep warned me that it would be my responsibility if the windshield cracks . The WORST part is that the service rep told me that they don’t provide a loaner car while they are making the repair! I am a self-employed single guy who uses this car for work, so it is a HUGE INCONVENIENCE!!! Does anyone know of a way for Honda to pay for this madness?
As much as I like them,
I don’t ever want to buy a Honda again.
Honda is a stickler on these things so I doubt you will get them to be very helpful to you about needing a loaner. I too have a 2015 Pilot, but don’t have paint peeling. What I have instead is a lot of tiny chips from road stones. I’ve always hated Honda paint quality, and after more than a dozen new Accords and Pilots I’ve never had one that the paint didn’t chip easily.
If you bought the vehicle new (or even better - multiple new Hondas over the years), I suggest you get in touch with Honda corporate customer relations. Explain the situation.
I would inform them if you do not get a free loaner, they will not get any future business from you because you will no longer buy Honda vehicles.
Maybe they will cave in.
Maybe not.
It's worth a call or email.
I had the exact same issue with my 2013 Pilot. The dealer made me jump through hoops just for them to honor the paint job they were supposed to do. They had the car for 2 weeks, and I was told that they do not provide a loaner. About 6 months ago I traded my Pilot in for the 2021 Model. I went to a different dealer. They provide a loaner vehicle if you request one when you make an appointment for service. When I went in for my first oil change 2 weeks ago they had the loaner waiting for me ready to go. When my car was ready I got it back with not just an oil change but the car was washed too. So I have to say it really depends on the dealer you use.
