1,500sf houses with cleaners? Get off your lazy asses I have a 3,000 sf house and dontthink im rich enough for one but apparently I am based on this thread, but screw that ill clean my own place!
I can make $100+ per hour at my business, a cleaning person costs around $20 per hour, therefore I would actually be losing money to clean my own house, all while doing some crap work that I don't enjoy. If you are a self-employed person and make more than a maid, then it only makes financial sense to hire one... but thanks for calling us lazy, now go get a clue.
$125/hr for every other week service. One person comes for about 3 hours.
She does a great job cleaning. Doesn't do a great job with putting things back, so each day my wife has to go through the house and restore everything to the correct location. We have the cheapest service around and figure the trouble is worth it.
We no longer have cleaners come, but we used to use a service. We paid $75 per visit, and had them visit every three weeks. I think that the $75 included 2 people, for 1 1/2 hours. We have 2 adults and 2 cats (we have three cats now, but I think we only had two at the time).
St. Louis, MO. 1300 square foot house plus about 600 feet of finished space in the basement.
I live in a 2500sq ft house. There are 4 of us including 2 small kids. We call in a cleaning service every 2 weeks and they charge $120 for 5 hours of work. They bring in their supplies and equipments and are trustworthy peole. Have a look if you want to know their pricing information Pricing Information | Sunrise Cleaning Services
1500sq ft house, single story, no clutter, two adults, two cats. We pay $50 (cash) for 4 hours of work every other week. She brings all her own equipment and supplies. She is an independent and has been doing such for several friends for the past 6 years or so.
I get the liability and insurance issue but one has to do what one has to do.
Keep in mind this is SC. Labor is cheap here.
UPDATE
We have made a change. Our cleaning lady was never on time. Often rescheduling at the last minute. It was getting to be a pain the butt so we stopped using her.
We have gone to a commercial service (one of the M Maids). While it cost a bit more ($78 versus $50) they are on time, very efficient, and do a good job.

But we opt to give the mother/daughter team $20 so we don't have to keep getting small bills and we figure she's worth it. Takes them 2 hours and they wash the sheets. Condo is 1,000 sq. ft. just us two retirees.
They need the $$, we hate cleaning, so win-win. (plus I have severe arthritis, so cleaning is very difficult)
