Is it worth it to put natural stone on the entrance walkway? (prices, siding)

hi, i have a 200 sq. ft. front walkway (concrete). the contractor is charging me 3150 to put pennsylvania flagstone (1 inch) on the existing concrete. labor and material. Irregular natural stone.
is this worth it?
will it increase the value of my house significantly? (the house looks nice otherwise. only about 24 years old with new gray/blue aluminum sidings)
Hard to say. That is a personal preference. Your post does not say where you live, north or south. If it is in snow country, I would not want the flagstone, as it might be difficult to shovel or snowblow.
Many folks would not even perceive the value of it.....and I doubt you would get 100% return on that investment.....BUT, if that is what is in your neighborhood, then perhaps it is what is expected.

Are you selling? Are you doing it for investment? What is the condition of the present concrete? Is the walk dated, as in width, etc? Walkways today should be at least 3' wide or more, to allow folks walking two abreast easily.
Improvements such as this should be done for YOUR enjoyment, as I doubt it would raise the value of your house $3000.

no, not selling. yes, concrete is in great condition. yes, it's 3 ft. wide (the walkway). then there's a 5 by 12 landing in front of the door.
i live in VA. i hadn't even thought about the snow and the problems it may have with the natural stone. should i get the smooth ones then?
we're doing this mostly for our enjoyment. not looking to sell for another 10 years maybe. but who knows?
cash would either go in the bank, or be applied towards principle, or would be spent on improving the house in a way (this project among others).
I think it's a personal preference. Future buyers might just love it or they may hate it and price their offer for tearing it out. You might be better off spending the money on landscaping the front to improve the look.
In our area if I saw that on a walkway my first though would be "that would be a PAIN to shovel". It wouldn't kill a sale but would be part of the consideration.

You would still have joints between the stones that a shovel would catch on making it hard to shovel and if you went with the smooth stones, they would be extremely slippery in the winter.
