We have an old house (110ish yr old) and the budget ran out this year so we are looking for the least expensive place to buy decent insulated drapes for some added weather protection. Can anyone suggest any good sites to order online?

Thanks in advance!

We got ours at JC Penney -- I like the back tab curtains, and they have a larger selection than other places.

Also try Country Curtains, or Plow and Hearth.

We found some at Walmart. Live in Kentucky but found them at a Walmart in Georgia. Work good winter and summer.

Oh thanks a bunch! I think they will really help keep the heat from rushing right out the windows.

I got some nice ones at Overstock.com. Read the customer reviews. They will clue you in on which ones are the best.

Overstock is great for these types of home items. I've bought linens, towels, a slipcover, fab-quality nickle-finish faucets for my bathroom sinks, and my best find ... a $35 chandelier that is gorgeous. And their shipping for any weight is $2.95 -- but if you sign up for their E-mail (which I warn you comes daily), sometimes they will give you free shipping and/or discount coupons.

I also vote for JCPenney. I bought mine in the store. I get tons of compliments on them because they look custom. They are the pinched pleat kind but I hung them with the clip rings. I bought the rods and clip rigs from Wal-Mart (JCPenney's were too expensive). I bought another set for our bedroom HOWEVER, be careful as I discovered with the bedroom ones one panel was slightly shorter than the other. It was really obvious. I returned them and got the same thing. I made a 3rd trip and got a set the same length. I have heard other people complain JCPenney's drapes are like that. But when I bought the living room ones I had no issues the first time around.

Insulated curtains really do make a difference, even in the summer. Even now that we've got new double-paned windows, the curtains block a lot of the outdoor temperature from coming in the house. And since our old house has minimal insulation, they block some of the cold coming from the walls as well.

Good luck in your search.

Bed Bath & Beyond - they often have sales and always have 20% off coupons. Our BB & B will let you use a coupon for each item that you are buying. We have silk drapes that are fully lined and also have a heavy felt inner lining - almost identical to the Pottery Barn silk drapes. They are $99 a pair at BB & B.

Another vote for Penny's. I've had them for a couple of years. Mine are machine washable and they come out very nice. Bought the hardware at Target. (We have blinds on the sliding glass door that I hate but are perfectly good. But as soon as they break or I get REAL tired of them I'm back at JCP.com ordering their drapes.)

Don't forget to check Pottery Barn and Renovation Hardware websites to see if they have their insuoated drapes on sale.
