I'm looking to paint our house in the next month, before southern humidity sets in. I'm having some trouble selecting a white - I'd like something bright, not cream, not gray or too stark, and more on the warm side than cool - a soft white, maybe? I'd be doing black shutters and a red door.
Have you seen a white house you really like locally? You could always grab up a huge handful of white paint samples that you like and hold them up to the house you like to get a really close match......

I'm actually considering this, but wondering if the home owner would think I am a nutcase, LOL. There is one house, but I think the people living in it aren't the ones who painted it. It's right next to another house, also painted white, which definitely looks gray-hued and cold in comparison.
I know I've gotten good advice here before on paint colors for my interior, so I figured I'd ask and see if anyone knew of a fabulous white they would recommend
paint a decent sized section (maybe a foot or two square) with each color and each side of the house. this way, you can get an idea of how the colors react to different lighting at different times of day. just make sure you label each color on the wall (pencil will work LOL)
WE are using Lemon Chiffon which is really a white. I really like white with a bluish tinge to it. You cannot see the blue in it unless you compare to pure white. To me pure white often looks too glaring and washed out. It depends on the house in part.
My personal favorite is white that has a touch of blue in it. Not enought that you can see the blue, but enough to brighten up the white and just give it a tint that you cannot really describe as a color.
Blue brightens white. I think Yellow softens it, but I do not rememebr with certainty.
